props to those mountains in the distance.

don’t know why i know these things, but i do

that’s shawn colvin.
“Why do people talk to you?”
i don’t know why.

Hey, on the record: if I’m ever stuck in some ultra-survivalist situation, the terrible accidental kind where if we’re lucky they call in a medivac and a team of rescuers … if ever I’m there, and still barely alive if I’m rescued, I just want to be held. Do not strap me into a backboard unless it’s absolutely necessary. Just hold me. Bare hands, or skin-on-skin, is preferable, but at that point anything would do.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
never settle for the path of least resistance
living might mean taking chances, but they’re worth taking
loving might be a mistake, but it’s worth making
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens –
promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
I hope you dance

I hope you dance
that’s LeeAnn Womack, and the rest of her is not very good, but those words hold true.

All over life you find little things, stickies if you will, graffiti if you won’t;
all over are these pieces reminding you to look at the sky, to forgive;
reminding you to love fiercely, mentioning good food and warm feet and
reminding you about common sense;
little pieces that tell you to seek wisdom and come under mercy, in grace
all over.

I don’t know why, but I do know it’s part of seeking wisdom.

I started listening to the wind and the rain – you strained your ears, but could hear nothing
one night I thought I heard them calling my name, and I went running
I left a trail of footprints deep in the snow
I swore one day I would retrace them
but when I turned around I found that the wind had erased them
now I’ll never replace them
(but that’s okay. Ain’ got no money in my pocket, but I’m already here. Thanks, Kesha).
And Dan Fogelberg too

and thanks to everyone who’s ever taught me their love.
